Stephen was born and raised in Florence, South Carolina. He attended the University of South Carolina from 1985 to 1988, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and received a Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, in accounting.
After college, Stephen attended the University of South Carolina receiving his J.D. degree in 1991. While in law school, Mr. Stewart was a member of the South Carolina Law Review.
After law school, Stephen attended New York University School of Law obtaining a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree in taxation in 1992.
